*"TNRC 2012 Christmas Giving!"* by Sylvia Estes Trick N Racy Cars Club members met at Walmart for a shopping spree on Sunday December 9. We had 12 Club members shopping for our adopted seniors, a family, plus items to be contributed to the Fill A Stocking project. We continue to help our community during this Christmas season. After the shopping we all met at Olive Garden Restuarant for a great meal and some lively conversation. The Friday before Christmas 9 Club members met at the Warner's for the wrapping of the gifts. It was a small crowd, but we managed to get all the wrapping accomplished with time left over for goodies and some Christmas Cheer. Saturday the 22nd we met back at the Warner's in the morning to deliver all our gifts. We had 12 Club members making deliveries to our family and the homes of 17 seniors. It is a very worthwhile project that we have been doing since the beginning of the club. Our deliveries to some of the seniors are the only Christmas they have, and they not only look forward to our visit, but remember us from year to year. This is an event our car club is very proud of. In addition, Trick 'N Racy Cars donated $2300 to local charities in 2012. Click here to view a photo !!
*"2012 Cruise to Downtown Oregon City"* by Mike Sims The third annual Cruise to Historic Downtown Oregon City was held on Saturday, September 15, 2012 and it was hugely successful. All the paving and sidewalk improvements of downtown were finally completed and the weather was perfect. The downtown streets were jammed with hot rods, classic cars, trucks, and other vehicles among the historic buildings of Oregon City. Over 330 cars were on display at the show. Spectators were estimated to number between 6,000 and 8, 000. Over 3,000 spectators came to the show via Oregon City’s historic elevator, which brings people from the upper level of the city down to the Main Street level. Car show entries came from as far away as Walla Walla, La Grande and Prineville. An informal survey of spectators revealed that approximately one-third of the spectators came from Oregon City area; the other two-thirds came from outside the city. There were more vendors and exhibits in 2012, along with music from Joey’s Cruisin’ Show, and food and drink from many downtown restaurants and establishments. New classes for this event included classes for “green vehicles” and custom bicycles and special awards from some of the downtown merchants. An outstanding collection of hot rods, muscle cars, classic cars and trucks competed to be the “favorite” in some 50 classes. We are looking ahead to the 2013 Cruise to Downtown Oregon City to be held on Saturday, September 14, 2013. As always, new challenges are entailed as the historic Arch Bridge restoration is now completed and the re-opening of the bridge will restrict parking for the 2013 show. *"TNRC Takes a Variety Tour!"* by Lizzy OeDell A cold wind rushed through the air on the morning of October 15th, but that didn't stop the many Trick 'N Racy club members that were headed out on the newest club tour, the Variety Tour. The tour was aptly named for the many fun stops that were made along the local Molalla Country Farm Loop here in Oregon. As we neared our first destination you could hear an elk call in the distance, which proved we were going the right way as our first stop was Rosse Posse Elk Farm. The club took an hour long tour that taught about different elk personalities, showed the elk up close, and even included a fun petting zoo with goats, deer and a wallaby. The wind picked up which carried us along the back roads of Molalla to our next stop, the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm. Of course, tulips are no longer in season, but the pumpkins were plentiful, and were even being shot through a large cannon. Our last and final destination took us to AlexEli Winery. The club sampled various wines from Gewurtztraminer to Bubela's Blend in the quaint and comfy tasting room. All in all, cold weather included, we had a fun, entertaining, educational, and tasty day- the perfect example of a variety! Click here to view a couple of photos !!

It has additional pictures of the Club and its activities, plus many links to the other Car Related Facebook pages. You do not have to be on Facebook to check out the pictures and comments on the page; but to leave your comments and a big 'thumbs-up' (ie a Facebook 'like') you must be signed on into Facebook. *"TNRC Hosts Oregon City Historic Downtown Cruise"* by Mike Sims, Cruise Director In spite of less than perfect weather on September 17, 2011, the second annual Cruise to Historic Downtown Oregon City saw nearly 300 cars fill the downtown streets. By 8:00 am Oregon City’s Main Street was blocked off to all but show cars, and the cars came pouring in. Perhaps that is the wrong phrase to use, as a late morning rain shower slowed the number of cars coming in. However, it was still a very good turnout, and the variety of cars, trucks, and motorcycles was outstanding. Vehicles ranged from a 1923 speedster to modern tuner cars, with all manner of hot rods and customs in between. Quite a number of cars were making their first appearance at the downtown show and it was exciting to view these previously unseen vehicles. There were more show cars than the previous year, however the weather kept the number of spectators down from 2010. Still, more than 1500 spectators took the historic municipal elevator from Oregon City’s upper level down to the car show area. Another thousand or so spectators parked in the event parking areas downtown and enjoyed the car show, the vendor booths, the raffles, and a street dance exhibition. The downtown merchants opened their doors and activity was brisk, particularly for the restaurants and the beverage establishments. The event was hosted by *Trick ’N Racy Cars* club, along with the non-profit Main Street Oregon City, and the Downtown Business Coalition. The major sponsors were Busch Family Furniture and Columbia Insurance. In addition, a number of supporting sponsors and a tourism grant from the Oregon City Civic Improvement Trust contributed to the success of the show. There was still some room left for more show cars, so with a little better weather next year, we are hoping to have record turnouts for 2012. Click to view photos.
*"TNRC Members Cruise to the Tillamook Cheese Factory"* Members of Trick 'N Racy Cars met August 20th at the local Oregon City Shopping Center and followed Gared & Lizzy's yellow Ford coupe to the beach. The weather was a bit cool as we left but it was warm, bright, and terrific at the beach. It was a rare Oregon beach day without any wind. The first stop (after a midway gas stop) was a beach wayside area in Oceanside. Then it was on to the infamous Tillamook Cheese Factory. After watching the cheese being packaged and learning some Oregon Coast dairy history, the group was anxious to sample the cheese and, of course, some of the Tillamook ice cream. After the cheese factory, the cruise continued out the road along the bay to Cape Lookout State Park. The group enjoyed picnic lunch on the beach. It was a great day and a great trip. *"The Website Has Moved to New Server"* The Trick 'N Racy Cars website has moved to a new hosting site. The move has been long awaited and highly anticipated. The new site is truly www.tricknracycars.org rather than being part of another site. It also will allow for more pictures, allow for a 'for sale' page, plus provide a platform for future features to be added.
*"Sunshine Cruz - Success With Sunshine"* The Sunshine Cruz on June 17th was a great success. The weather cooperated once again for over 280 participants. This event provides part of the funding for the Club's charity projects. Thanks goes to the Cruz Director, Tim Yingling; the many club members who helped; and the great sponsors Clackamas Auto Parts and Deerfield Village.
*"TNRC Tour to the Western Airplane and Automobile Museum"* by Lizzy OeDell On June 11, 2011 the newest 'Cruise-Master' team of Gared and Lizzy OeDell planned their first club cruise to Hood River’s WAAAM (Western Antique Aeroplane & Automobile Museum). Planning a car cruise for June is risky in itself for Oregon weather, but by the time the club met up at 8:00 am, bursts of sun were already shining through the cracked clouds. Twelve couples showed up, complete with a rainbow of nine hot rods (can’t forget to mention the three daily drivers as well!). The group left, stretching out what almost seemed like a mile length of road. Even traveling down the freeway, very few cars merged in between us. When came the opportunity to get on the Historic Columbia River Highway, we took the first exit. Our cars wound around corners, soared through canopies of trees, and ascended summits with stunning views of the Columbia Gorge. We succeeded in making it to the WAAAM Museum with very few stragglers who took a wrong turn. We awed over the acres of antique memorabilia, everything from cars and airplanes, to guns and fishing gear. The time was swept away from us just the gas in our cars. Upon leaving and filling up, many couples choose to go their own ways. Some went back the Old Highway, others decided to cross the river and try Washington’s Highway 14, some went straight for ice cream in Cascade Locks, and some of us even went for Mt. Hood and Highway 26. That is the beauty of traveling to the Gorge: the options, the destinations, the views, the unreliable weather (great in our case that day!) and most importantly, the delightful drive when we have our fellow enthusiasts and friends following close behind.
*"Mt Pleasant Cruise Raises Money for the School"* The cruise on Sunday, May 1st was blessed with great weather for a cruise. It was a success with almost 280 cars, trucks, and motorcycles. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event goes toward supporting the needs of individual students and classroom sponsorships at Mt Pleasant Elementary. The kids get involved with their own fund raising with the sale of doughnuts, hamburgers, and hotdogs. Since its' inception in 2005, the "Cruise to Mt Pleasant School" has generated in excess of $25,000 for the school!
*"TNRC Cruises to Camp Rilea"* by Bill Nelson On April 30, 2011 6:00 am came very early. This is the time that 7 or 8 cars left Oregon City for Camp Rilea. As always, our rest spot on Hwy. 26 we all made together. The next stop was breakfast. We all arrived except John M. in his Buick Riviera. He had a low battery and needed a battery jump - provided by our own Bob Jones. We had 14 cars at the show for our club. A good time was had by all AND it did not rain this year. Trophys were awarded to Lee Wakefield, Jack Cole and Donna Ingram for their cars. It was a long day but a good sunny day for Trick 'N Racy Car Club!
